Georgia sex offenders to be monitored on Halloween

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles officials say sex offenders on parole will be subject to increased supervision on Halloween.

The agency said in a news release that the offenders will be under curfew or will be required to report to a specified location on Friday.

The curfews will be in place from dusk until dawn, and parole officers will do compliance sweeps during the evening hours in many parts of the state.

Residence searches will also be done to make sure sex offenders on parole have their outside lights turned off, don't have outdoor Halloween decorations and aren't answering the door except for anyone but law enforcement.

In some parts of the state, sex offenders will be told to report to a specific location during trick-or-treating hours.
