Escaped Forsyth Co. inmate turns himself in to authorities

CUMMING - Authorities said an inmate accused of walking away from a work detail in Cumming has turned himself in to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.<br /> <br /> Authorities said 39-year-old Koby Blanchard showed up at the Forsyth County detention center to surrender shortly before noon Sunday. <br /> <br /> Authorities said Blanchard walked away Friday around 2 p.m., when he was supposed to working at the Cumming Police Department. <br /> <br /> During the search, police Lt. Bryan Zimbardi had said Blanchard was not considered a public safety threat nor was he believed to be armed. The inmate's prior charges include arson, burglary and theft. Authorities say he will now face additional charges arising from his absence from custody. <br /> <br /> Authorities said a woman was arrested Friday and charged with being and accomplice in Blanchard's escape.<br /> <br /> <i>The Associated Press contributed to this story.</i><br /> <br />
