More than 2 inches of rain in Gainesville Tues.; unusually wet Oct. continues

A mid-afternoon downpour pushed Tuesday's rainfall in Gainesville to more than 2.3 inches as of 5:00.<br /> <br /> The total at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport was the most rain in a single-day since April 7 when 3.38 inches fell.<br /> <br /> Tuesday was the fourth straight day of measurable rain in Gainesville for October, traditionally one of the driest months of the year, and brings the monthly total to 3.87 inches. Normal for the month is about 1.80 inches.<br /> <br /> But, it appears the rain is over for the next few days, maybe until late in the month, according to AccuWeather.com. <br /> <br /> But, a Flash Flood Watch remained in effect late Tuesday afternoon for several mountain counties in northeast Georgia: Dawson, Habersham, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, Union and White.
