Brenau's Rumker named swimmer of the week

GAINESVILLE -- The Appalachian Swimming Conference named Brenau University junior Shelby Rumker of Douglas its Women's Swimmer of the Week for her performance at a three-institution meet at South Georgia College in Douglas on Jan. 10.

Competing against swimmers from South Georgia College and Thomas University, Rumker recorded a personal best and finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.58. She also finished second in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.73 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.19.

In the ASC, Rumker is currently ranked 23rd in the 50 freestyle, sixth in the 100 freestyle, second in the 200 freestyle, fifth in the 100 backstroke, fourth in the 200 backstroke and ninth in the 100 butterfly.

In the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics standings, Rumker is currently ranked fifth in the 200 freestyle and 10th in both the 100 and 200 backstroke.
