GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville boys basketball team grabbed its second straight victory on Monday when the Red Elephants defeated Salem 74-60 in Gainesville.
Meanwhile, the Gainesville girls were defeated by Salem 50-38 on Monday in a battle for the top spot in Region 8-AAAAA.
Luke Maddox and Ithello Cross each scored 16 points to pace the Red Elephants (10-7, 4-5 Region 8-AAAAA) in their win.
Gainesville will play host to Apalachee on Friday.
