Buford teen arrested for firing shots into crowd

By Staff
BUFORD - A Buford teenager has been jailed on five counts of aggravated assault after he allegedly fired shots into a group of men playing basketball at an apartment complex.

Gwinnett police said the incident happened at the Reserve at Ivy Creek Apartments near the Mall of Georgia the night of September 20. Detectives found out about the shooting when they were called to Gwinnett Medical Center where one man in the group had been shot in the leg.

The wounded man told police that he and his friends were playing basketball at the apartment complex when a vehicle drove by and a teen they identified as
17-year-old Carrington Frye opened fire on them. They told officers Frye fired between 15 and 20 shots.

The officer said that the men told him they did not know why Frye fired at them.

Frye was arrested Monday at his girlfriend's apartment. He remains in jail without bond.
