GA high court to hear state's appeal in Hill case

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) The Georgia Supreme Court has agreed to hear the state's appeal of a lower court judge's order that halted the execution of a death row inmate last month.

The high court on Monday issued a statement saying it would hear the appeal in the case of Warren Lee Hill.

A Fulton County judge on July 18 issued a stay of execution to review the constitutionality of a new Georgia law that classifies certain information about execution drugs as a ``confidential state secret.''

If the parties request oral arguments, they are likely to take place in the coming months. Hill's stay of execution will remain in place.

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to consider next month whether it will take up Hill's federal appeal on other grounds.
