Driver unhurt when vehicle slams into house

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - A female driver was not hurt Tuesday afternoon when she lost control of her vehicle, it ran off the road and crashed into a house northwest of Cleveland.

White County law enforcement and fire officials were dispatched to the accident on Town Creek Road just after 5 p.m.

After officials arrived on scene, they determined the accident was not in White County but one-quarter mile inside Lumpkin County, on Damascus Church Road.

White County firefighters did a report as mutual aid for Lumpkin County. White County sheriff's deputies said they had no jurisdiction so they turned over the investigation to Lumpkin County.

Reports on scene said the driver was from Baltimore, Md., but was staying in Gainesville. The resident of the house was not at home at the time the accident occurred. Both the vehicle and the house suffered heavy damage.

White County Fire Chief Norman Alexander said the wreck call was the maiden run for the new engine 6, just added to the fire department fleet.
