Savannah shootings leave 2 killed, 3 others hurt

By The Associated Press
SAVANNAH - Authorities say at least five people were hit in a spree of shootings in Savannah, including two people who were killed by the gunfire.

Savannah-Chatham Metro police say officers responded to three separate shootings Tuesday night.

WTOC-TV reports that two of the five people who were shot have died at local hospitals.

The violence began around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, with a report of shots fired near Oglethorpe Avenue and East Broad Street. Two other shootings in nearby neighborhoods were reported minutes later.

Authorities say all three shootings occurred within about 30 minutes.

Police spokesman Julian Miller told The Savannah Morning News that investigators were trying to determine what led to the shootings. He said it was too early to determine whether they were related.
