GAINESVILLE - Authorities have released the names of the three people killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Georgia Highway 365 at Howard Road on Friday morning.
Gainesville Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said the driver of the Ford F150 struck by a tractor trailer at the intersection was Raymond McGowan, 36, of Gainesville. His passenger has been identified as Autumn Holton, 17, of Lula.
Also killed was Robbin Chitwood, 57, of Lula. She was a passenger in a Ford Escape that struck the rear of the tractor trailer after the initial collision.
While the accident remains under investigation, the preliminary report released Friday morning indicated the Ford F150 was traveling southbound on Ga. 365 and made a left turn in front of a tractor trailer, owned by Fieldale, which was traveling northbound on Hwy. 365.
Holbrook did not release the names of the six others who were injured in the crash.
Holbrook also did not say if charges would be filed.
The accident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. Friday and the highway was closed for approximately nine hours as a result.
