Two men face drug charges in Toccoa

TOCCOA - Two men were arrested in Toccoa Wednesday, and a third is being sought.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said officers of his department's patrol division with to 306 S. Pine St., regarding a person with active arrest warrants out of Elbert County.

When officers arrived, a male dropped a plastic baggy containing marijuana and ran from officers, Jarrell said.

Toccoa Police contacted the Mountain Judicial Circuit Narcotics Criminal Investigation and Suppression Team.

After obtaining a search warrant, and with the assistance of Toccoa Police Department K-9 Unit, NCIS special agents searched the residence. The search resulted in the seizure of approximately 1.5 ounces of marijuana, an undetermined amount of marijuana seeds, digital scales, and marijuana smoking devices.

Quamaine Urkius Johnson, 20, of Toccoa was charged with one count of felony possession of marijuana.

Joseph Jackson, 58, of Toccoa, was arrested on outstanding Stephens County arrest warrants relating to a previous drug charge.

"The subject that ran on foot remains at large but arrest warrants are expected in the near future," Jarrell said. "The source of the marijuana remains under investigation."
