White County government offices making moves

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - White County continues to move forward with moving all non-judicial offices out of the White County Courthouse.

Speaking on NewsTalk 1350 Wednesday morning, White County Commission Chairman Travis Turner said crews are doing some minor remodeling at the former jail facility off Helen Highway and will move the remaining non-judicial offices there.

"Our hope and desire is that we will be able to provide better service to our citizens, kind of have a one stop shop. You'll be in the same general area. And what that does, we are able to utilize space that is there in good condition and it allows room in the existing courthouse to keep it for judicial purposes," Turner said.

Turner said planning and economic development offices recently moved to the upper lever of the Mauney Building on Helen Highway.

Other moves to the new location are expected July 8th.

The relocation includes county manager, county clerk, human resources and the finance and business tax office.

County commission meetings will be held at the White County Courthouse until further notice.
