Drowning reported on Lake Russell

ELBERTON - Elbert County authorities have confirmed that a person apparently drowned in Richard B. Russell Lake overnight, although few details are being released.

Elberty County EMA Director Charles Almond, who also is the coroner for the county, said the body was pulled from the lake and taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Almond said the body was recovered just after midnight.
