Suspect arrested in arson at former MLB player's home

By The Associated Press
ACWORTH, Ga. (AP) Police say an arrest has been made in a fire that destroyed a house owned by ex-Major League outfielder Otis Nixon.

Cobb County fire spokeswoman Denell Boyd says a fire was reported early Sunday morning in Acworth, at the home of former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon.

Acworth Police Chief Wayne Dennard says Nixon's neighbor, 34-year-old Lamine Diaw, was arrested and will be charged with arson. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

Authorities say the fire stemmed from a dispute between Diaw and a man who lived at the house. Officials say Nixon's son and others lived in the home.

Nixon played for several teams including the Atlanta Braves, between 1983 and 1999.
