'March Against Monsanto' to include Cleveland on Saturday

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - Northeast Georgia residents are scheduled to join a worldwide protest march this Saturday in Cleveland.

Carol McLemore, one of the organizers for the event, said, "The 'March Against Monsanto', a multi-national agricultural biotechnology corporation, is being held to educate the public and help spread awareness about the harmful effects of genetically modified foods and protect our food supply" and their connection with the chemical giant.

McLemore stressed this is a non-violent family protest. The group received a permit this week from the City of Cleveland to hold its rally and march in the downtown area. Participants will be gathering in the parking lot behind the White County Courthouse on East Kyle Street.

According to McLemore, at 11 a.m. there will be a short program with speakers and then the actual march will get underway at 11:20 a.m.

The marchers will remain on the sidewalk during the protest.
