Former Lavonia city councilman dies

LAVONIA - Memorial services will be held Sunday for former Lavonia City Councilman David Whitworth, who died Wednesday at Ty Cobb Regional Hospital.

In addition to serving two terms as a Lavonia councilman, Whitworth was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. He was retired from General Telephone & Electronics and the Lavonia Fire Department.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26 at Lavonia First Baptist Church.

David Whitworth was 74.
