Commerce man arrested in kidnapping case

COMMERCE - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Commerce man stemming from a home invasion case last month.

The incident happened on Allen Road on April 28, according to Sheriff Janis Mangum.

Deputies responded following a 911 hang up. Two victims told authorities they were attacked while they were asleep in bed.

Investigators believe 23 year old Jeffrey Demetric Dempson forced his way into the home through a window. He allegedly tried to drag a female victim from the home before he left, according to the sheriff's office.

Dempson is charged with kidnapping, burglary and two counts of battery. He was being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.
