Golf: Ralston, Elephants lead after round one of The Invite

GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville boys golf team leads Columbus by seven strokes after the first day of The Invite tournament at Chattahoochee Golf Course Friday.

Gainesville fired a 292 with Columbus at 299. Brookstone is third at 302, Westminster fourth at 307, and Cambridge fifth at 308. St. Pius is sixth after shooting a 318 and North Hall shot a 329.

Gainesville freshman Spencer Ralston leads the individual tournament after shooting a 3-under par 69. Charlie Flowers of Columbus is second one shot back at 70.

Grant Lasseter of Gainesville, playing as an individual, and Stanton Schorr are tied for third at 72. Jackson Bishop of Gainesville, james Clark of Brookstone, and Ryan Stachler of Cambridge are all tied for fifth at 73.

The second round is slated to begin at 7:20 a.m. on Saturday.
