'Pulling for Tripp' fundraiser April 20 at Road Atlanta

GAINESVILLE - In an effort to further support Tripp Halstead, the toddler who was critically injured last October when a large tree branch fell and struck him, WDUN AM550/FM102.9 has organized a fundraising event to be held Saturday, April 20.

On that day, Greg Cochran, owner of OLDSKL Fitness and world-record holder, will be at Road Atlanta on the second morning of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, pulling two all-new Nissan Pathfinders from Carriage Automotive Group to raise money for Tripp.

Cochran is no stranger to events like this one. He is a world record holder in events such as 'Most 50-foot Truck Pulls,' where he pulled a 5,300 lb. truck for 50 feet 27 times in one hour. Each time Cochran tackles a challenge like this, he always picks a local charity or individual to benefit.

"I am blessed to have been a part of some great events all over the southeast, some that claimed a world record, some just because they needed to be done. I am very happy to be a part of the upcoming event for Tripp Halstead and his family. Tripp has touched so many hearts and I am thrilled that something I love to do will benefit such a worthy cause," Cochran said.

The public is welcome to attend the "Pulling for Tripp!" event. For every individual who comes to Road Atlanta and mentions Tripp Halstead when purchasing a ticket, Road Atlanta will donate part of the proceeds to the family.

GRAND-AM at Road Atlanta is a two-day sports car racing event running Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. Greg Cochran will be on the track pulling the Pathfinders from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

For anyone unable to attend in person, there are two other ways to be involved. WDUN AM550/FM102.9 radio will air live updates throughout the day. Ken Coleman, host of The Ken Coleman Show, will be on the track with Cochran Saturday morning. In addition, there will be a link on WDUN.com to watch the live streaming video of Greg pulling the two Nissan Pathfinders from Carriage Automotive Group.

Also, Krystal restaurant in Oakwood is hosting a special promotion that Saturday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. As a way to show support for the Halsteads, Krystal will donate 25% of sales during those hours to the family. This offer applies to the Oakwood location only, the Krystal restaurant located closest to Road Atlanta.

Wrapping up the day, there will be an after-party at Loco's Grill and Pub in Winder from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Cochran will be there for a meet and greet, there will be t-shirts designed by CE Joe's on sale, and a raffle will be held with all proceeds going to the Halstead family. In addition, Loco's will donate 10% of sales that evening to the family.

A goal of $25,000 as been set for the "Pulling for Tripp!" fundraiser. All pledge donations, ticket proceeds, t-shirt and raffle collections, and restaurant contributions will be added together and donated to Tripp Halstead and his family to further support his medical care.
