Jet ski incident suspect freed on bond

By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - The Atlanta man accused in the death of an 11-year-old boy on Lake Lanier last summer has posted bond and has been released from the Hall County Jail.

District Attorney Lee Darragh confirmed Monday that Jeffrey Simon Hubbard was released on a $10,000 bond Thursday.

Hubbard had been in jail since March 1 when he was arrested in the jet ski incident that killed Kile Glover. The case has gained national attention, since R&B singer Usher was once married to the boy's mother.

Hubbard faces several charges, including homicide by vehicle, in connection with the July 6, 2012 incident. Authorities have said that Hubbard was operating a jet ski that struck an inner tube being pulled behind a pontoon boat; the boy and his sister were on that inner tube. Kile Glover died 15 days after the accident.

Darragh said an arraignment date has been set for March 19.
