Gainesville author Stargel dies at 83

Noted Christian author Gloria Cassity Stargel died Saturday, March 2, at the age of 83.

In 1982, Stargel's book "The Healing: One Family's Victorious Struggle with Cancer," was published, launching her into the world of Christian writing.

In addition to making numerous contributions to the the books in the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series, Stargel was a contributing author to Guideposts Magazine.

Stargel was a graduate of the Women's College at Brenau University, graduating with both the classes of 1950 and 1977. She was inducted into Brenau's Alumni Hall of Fame in 2003.

Funeral services for Gloria Cassity Stargel are Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., from Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville.
