Hawks assign rookie guard Schroder to Bakersfield

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks have assigned rookie guard Dennis Schroder to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Schroder, from Braunschweig, Germany, was the 17th overall pick in this year's NBA draft. He was averaging 3.7 points and 2.5 assists in 11 games. He was tied for fourth among NBA rookies in assists but struggled for playing time behind starting point guard Jeff Teague and backup Shelvin Mack.

The return of guard Lou Williams from knee surgery added more depth to Atlanta's backcourt.
