Oh, What A Tangled Web....

President Obama now says he deceived the American people, which brings to mind a line from history: "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive." These words are generally attributed to Shakespeare, but probably came from the pen of Sir Walter Scott. It's an old story. You tell one lie, then have to tell another to cover up the first, then another, and you are caught.

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive." But the deceit practiced in selling Obamacare, however large, is only one more step in a pattern of information coming from the White House. Think about Benghazi. The President and his minions stated for weeks that Benghazi was the result of mid-East religious riots caused by a film produced by an American. When that fell apart, out came another version, and another, until Secretary Clinton said to Congress "what difference does it make?" It remains today a tangled web. The same pattern evolved when it came out the IRS was hammering the Tea Party folks. Not us, the White House said. That took place down in Cincinnati. That web is still tangled. Then there was "listening in" on a White House reporter and the Associated Press.

This President campaigned on being open, transparent, and honest. Now he admits he was deceptive when he sold Obamacare by saying "You can keep your doctor. Period." Or your insurance policy. And no matter how many press conferences he holds, we will continue to hear the words: "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."
