OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys basketball team defeated South Cobb 101-78 on Monday in Oakwood.
The Knights jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 49-27 at the half. From there, the Knights cruised with the Eagles never drawing closer than 15.
Ty Cockfield led 11 Johnson players that scored in the game with 28 points and 7 assists. Carter Cagle also scored 19. James Hodges added 14 points. Daemonte Nicholson chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds.
South Cobb was led by James Coats with 20 points. Josh Holliday scored 18. Wesley Ingram added 12.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow in the Johnson Tipoff Classic. Johnson battles North Cobb (a Class AAAAAA semifinal team last season) at 7:30 p.m.
