GAC shuts down, Woerner, Wildcats for first round win

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian scored on four consecutive posessions in the second and third quarters to blow open a close game en rout to a 34-7 win over Rabun County Friday night in the Class AA state playoffs.

The Spartans (10-1) led just 6-0 midway through the second quarter before Rafe Chappell ran for two scores and threw for another as they pushed their lead to 34-0 late in the third quarter.

The Wildcats (8-3) struggled against the GAC defense rushing for just 107 yards for the game. Charlie Woerner had 136 yards rushing for Rabun County but did not reach the end zone.

rabun County's only score came with just 33 seconds left in the game on a 70-yard TD pass from hunter Sims to Jordan Oliver.

GAC next will play host to Calhoun, which beat Manchester 42-9, in the second round.
