Police identify suspects in shooting at apartments

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police Friday released names and photos of two suspects in a shooting Wednesday night at Ridgecrest Apartments off Cleveland Highway.

Investigators identified the suspects as 33 year old Ronta Antonio Garner of Lawrenceville and 26 year old Shamarcus Deunte Grimes, also of Lawrenceville.

Police have not released the name of the shooting victim. Thursday morning, authorities said he was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with a gunshot to the abdomen following the 9:00 p.m. incident. There's also no word on the victim's current condition.

According to police Corporal Kevin Holbrook, Garner has numerous tattoos covering his head, face and body. He is listed as a member of the 243 Bloods Gang. Police said he's six feet three inches tall and 181 pounds.

Investigators described Grimes as five feet nine and 175 pounds.

Holbrook said officers consider the men armed and dangerous.

Police have warrants for the two including aggravated battery, attempted robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a gun by a felon and possession of a gun during the commission of a crime.
