Authorities nab two, one wanted in undercover drug roundup

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GAINESVILLE - As drug agents in Hall and Barrow counties continued looking for the remaining 13 suspects in an undercover drug investigation, one more was arrested in Gainesville Friday.

Gainesville-Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad Lt. Scott Ware said Jimmy Jarod Parks, 24, Gainesville, was arrested while agents and Gainesville Police officers executed a search warrant at 240 Atlanta Street.

According to Ware, agents seized crack cocaine, marijuana, scales and cash from apartment Q-4. He estimated the street value of the drugs at $1900.

Parks is charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana and distribution of cocaine and marijuana within 1000 feet of government housing.

Parks' arrest brings the total to 15 people nabbed in the four-month operation that culminated with 14 arrests Wednesday.

While not wanted in the larger operation, authorities arrested Nikita S. Payne, 20, of Gainesville, in connection with the Atlanta Street case. She faced the same charges as Parks in the Friday bust.

Both suspects were booked into the Hall County Jail, according to Ware.
