Elections 2013: Chris Fetterman

By Ken Stanford
NAME: Chris Fetterman

OCCUPATION: Transportation Manager

Candidate for Post 5 on the Flowery Branch City Council

1) Why are you running for this office?

I am concerned about the lack of fiscal responsibility on the council. An example is Ordinance 477, a 70% pay raise for elected officials.

2) Is this first time you have run for political office? (If "no," please explain.)

No. After being elected to serve Flowery Branch for a second time, my employer offered me an opportunity which required weekly travel and eventual relocation out of state which would not allow me to serve Flowery Branch properly. This was a very hard decision to make because serving you was one of my greatest joys in life. But opportunities presented themselves that kept my family in Flowery Branch and I want to serve you again.

4) What do you see as the biggest concern/issue facing the city of Flowery Branch? And, please explain your answer.

There is no real comprehensive infrastructure plan that is funded to fix the aging water and sewer pipes, a real storm water plan to fix our storm water run-off problems that damage our culverts, bridges, and people's property, and a real resurfacing plan for many of our streets as well as the ever increasing price of the Cinnamon Cove sewer line project. We do not just need a study, but we need to have a funded plan that sets money aside for these and quit buying property and giving elected officials pay 70% pay raises which I will vote to repeal.

5) Are there any specific goals you would like to accomplish if you are elected? And, please explain your answer.

I have a "mission to zero" on property taxes and I want Flowery Branch to have a gradual reduction in property taxes year after year until we reach that goal. With a increase of LOST (Local Option Sales Tax) revenue, which should be used to offset property taxes, we should give that money back to the people of Flowery Branch. This is not a windfall to find things to spend it on like property and 70% pay raises for elected officials which I will vote to repeal.
