By staff
JEFFERSON -- The Jefferson softball team advanced to the Region 8-AA championship round on Wednesday courtesy a 6-0 win over Oglethorpe County in Jefferson.

The victory came in Game 3 of a best-of-three series that saw the two teams split contests on Tuesday.

Caitlin Cantrell earned the win in the pitching circle for the Lady Dragons (22-7), allowing just one hit in five innings pitched. Olivia Husted came on to pitch the final two innings, earning the save while holding Oglethorpe hitless over six outs.

Jefferson pulled away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Arynn Baker also provided a solo home run for the Lady Dragons in the sixth as part of a 2-for-3 performance. Husted also went 2-for-4 with a double, while Emily Dufty went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Jefferson will take on Social Circle on Saturday for the Region 8-AA title.
