Investigators probing Baldwin home fire

BALDWIN - State fire investigators are looking into what caused a fire at a large Baldwin home Sunday night.

Glenn Allen of Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner Ralph Hudgens' office, at noon Monday, said the scene at 137 Bradley Drive still is too hot for a physical investigation, so they are conducting interviews.

Allen said they likely will bring in the insurance company so a crane can be utilized to lift the roof of large home, said to be around 4,500 square feet.

The fire, dispatched around 10:40 p.m. Sunday, consumed the large home in Windy Knoll Subdivision in northern Banks County and was visible for several miles, including from U.S. Highway 441.

Allen said the owners' name is not being released at this time.
