FLOWERY BRANCH -- For a quarter the Flowery Branch boys basketball team was poised for an upset against Region 8-AAAAA front-runner Clarke Central Tuesday night.
The Falcons trailed 10-9 after the first quarter but the Gladiators used a 19-8 run to close out the first half and then blew the game open with a 15-2 run to open the third quarter en route to 64-41 win at the Flowery Branch gym.
Clarke Central led 32-19 at halftime and increased its lead to 47-21 after its opening second half run.
Flowery Branch never got closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Cody Dewing led Flowery Branch with 14 points.
