Cumming softball tournament raises $5K for breast cancer program

By Staff
CUMMING - Forsyth Central High School's (FCHS) Lady Bulldogs girl's softball team recently presented Northside Hospital's Breast Care Program with a $5,000 check to help raise awareness of breast cancer.

The money was raised during the team's 2012 "Pink Out" softball tournament, held Sept. 6-9, at FCHS. All proceeds from admissions, T-shirt sales, concessions and donations were presented to the hospital.

The 2012 Pink Out tournament included teams from Jefferson and Lambert high schools, and Providence Christian Academy. Led by head coach Bill Richardson, the Lady Bulldogs spearhead all of the pre-tournament fundraising efforts throughout the county. Each year, the torch is passed to the next group of upper classmen, to continue the tradition of community service. In all, Pink Out has generated more than $13,300 for Northside's Breast Care Program.
