'Eaglecam' from Rome focused on nesting birds

By The Associated Press
ROME, Ga. (AP) A pair of bald eagles nesting on the campus of Berry College in Rome has gained a worldwide audience.

Last month the school installed a web-based ``Eaglecam'' that's focused on the nest, which is located in a pine tree near the main entrance to the college.

School officials now say the birds are believed to be incubating eggs. And the Rome News-Tribune reports that people from as far away as Japan have clicked on a website to view the camera's image of the eagle.

Berry College official Eddie Elsberry says a team of observers first noticed changes in activity at the nest around Dec. 20.

If an egg or eggs were laid during that time frame, the 35-day incubation period just passed.
