White Co. boarding inmates from other counties

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - The White County Detention Center in Cleveland has some extra bed space, and Sheriff Neal Walden is seizing the opportunity to make some money to help meet daily expenses.

"Building a new jail we knew that we were going to have the extra bed space, and boarding these inmates is going to offset some costs that we have," said Walden.

He told White County Commissioners this week at a work session that he is currently housing ten inmates for Union County.

According to Walden, there are about 40 additional bed spaces available to board out to inmates from other counties.
