ATLANTA (AP) -- An attorney says the man who is accused of fatally shooting a former Georgia State University soccer player over weekend has turned himself into police.
Attorney Dennis Scheib says 29-year-old Emery Parish surrendered to Atlanta police around 1:30 p.m. Friday. Parish is accused in the shooting death of 23-year-old Ayokunle Lumpkin on Sunday.
Parish is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Parish is being held in the Fulton County Jail, and it is unknown whether he has an attorney.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan says Parish is scheduled for a first appearance hearing Saturday morning at Fulton County Jail, but has the option of waving that hearing.
