Volleyball: Lady Dragons start strong at Spikefest

RABBITTOWN -- Jefferson opened its 2012 season Saturday on a strong note going 3-1 at the East Hall Spikefest Tournament and finishing in the semifinal round of the Gold bracket.

The Lady Dragons began with a straight sets win over Chestatee 25-16, 25-17 and then knocked off Lakeview Academy in straight sets 25-18, 25-19 for Coach Michael Pauls 300th career win. Jefferson finished pool play with a tough 25-21, 23-25, 15-13 over host East Hall.

In the semifinal round of the Gold bracket, Jefferson fell to West Hall in another tough three set match, 21-25, 25-14, 15-12.

For Jefferson, Grace Williamson recorded 10 aces to lead the serving. Williamson also added 37 assists and nine kills on the day. Paige Watson had 32 assists while Sarah Wood had 43 kills and Amanda Flowers had 20 kills for the Lady Dragons.
