Hwy. 53 accident victim identified

By Staff
CUMMING - An official with the Forsyth County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a Monday afternoon crash on Hwy. 53 as Clara Garmon, 58, of Gainesville.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Ga. 53 at Truman Mountain Road, according to Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers.

Garmon apparently was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the two-car crash. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries, according to Shivers.

He said all lanes of Highway 53 were shut down for about an hour and a half as a result.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Capt. Tim House said it's unlikely charges will be filed in the case.

The accident happened just as a strong thunderstorm was moving through Forsyth and Hall counties.
