Roads back open after two major Habersham County wrecks

CORNELIA - Habersham County authorities were working two major accidents during the Wednesday morning rush hour.

Habersham County authorities and the Georgia State Patrol said both Duncan Bridge Road and Pea Ridge Road were closed while authorities worked to clear a serious crash. Authorities opened the road again around 8:20 a.m.

Initial reports indicate a motorcycle and a car collided near the intersection of the two roads.

An air ambulance was called to the scene.

The second accident resulted in the closure of Gainesville Highway in front of Mt. Vernon Mills in Alto. That accident was reported to involve two vehicles. Authorities were reporting injuries in that crash, as well.

Authorities also opened that roadway around 8:20 a.m.
