Cumming-Forsyth Co. chamber creates HR Council

CUMMING - In 2011 the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce participated in 16 economic development projects that were projected to have generated over 1,000 new jobs. In response to the growing number of employees being hired in Forsyth County and the City of Cumming, the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Georgia United Credit Union to establish The Human Resource Council (HRC).

"The HRC provides our community's human resource professionals with a forum to collectively discuss the challenges and resources that they face on a daily basis" said James McCoy, the President and CEO of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce. "The HRC connects our community's HR professionals to a wide range of workforce development resources."

On Tuesday, June 19, Georgia United Credit Union will host the 2012 HR Bootcamp. The event will serve as the kick-off event for the Human Resource Council.

"The HR Bootcamp is a tremendous resource for our community's human resource professionals, medical practice managers, and small business owners" commented Tracy Moon, the Chair of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce's Workforce Development Committee. "The event will feature seminars on several of the most prevailing topics affecting the HR sector."

The event will train participants on such topics as:

*Recent trends in wage and hour laws
*How to avoid unlawful hiring practices
*How to avoid discrimination in social media
*EEOC enforcement trends
*Recent developments in labor laws
*How to recognize union organizing activity
*How to correctly classify employees

It will take place at Dekalb Office, which is located at 1320 Ridgeland Parkway in Alpharetta, 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.. Registration/check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m.
