Gainesville worker hurt on job, flown to Atlanta trauma center

By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - A worker at USA Production Parts in Gainesville was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Atlanta after he was injured on the job Wednesday afternoon.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said emergency responders from both the county and Gainesville City fire department were called to the scene on Centennial Circle around 2:00 p.m. They found a worker with his hand caught in a piece of equipment.

"When we arrived, it appeared that a couple of fingers had become crushed in some of their production machinery," said Kimbrell.

Kimbrell said the injury was not life-threatening, but medical personnel felt it best to have the worker treated at a trauma center in Atlanta.

"Medical control advised to fly the patient to a trauma center in Atlanta to try to save the fingers and reattach and do reconstruction that they could not do here," said Kimbrell.

Kimbrell said no other workers were involved.
