Toll lanes possible for Ga. 400

By The Associated Press
ROSWELL - Georgia transportation officials shared their idea for new toll lanes on Georgia 400 during a public meeting in metro Atlanta.

State engineers told residents at a Tuesday night forum in Roswell that Georgia 400 is one of the most congested roads in metro Atlanta, and the only way to alleviate the problem is to add another lane for motorists willing to pay a toll.

The so-called HOT lane is envisioned on a 24-mile stretch of Georgia 400 from Interstate-285 in Sandy Springs to Highway 20 in Forsyth County.

The Department of Transportation plans another public hearing at Piney Grove Middle School in Cumming on Thursday, followed by one at First Baptist Church Sandy Springs on March 20.
