CLARKESVILLE - Clarkesville police would like to hear from anyone with information about a bomb threat that closed a Clarkesville industry for some two hours Thursday morning.
Business at Piedmont Automotive Products on Rocky Branch Road was interrupted for about two hours after the threat was received just before 8 a.m.
Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett said the telephone threat was made to the industry shortly before 8 a.m., with emergency personnel arriving quickly to secure the scene.
"We responded to the scene, evacuated the building, did a perimeter search of the building and nothing was conclusive as far as the search was concerned," said Barrett.
Barrett asks anyone with information about the person who made the threat to contact his department at (706) 754-5390.
Barrett said "about 20 to 30 employees" were evacuated from Piedmont Automotive, with many waiting it out at the nearby Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center.
Rocky Branch Road was shut down for about two hours between Toccoa Highway and Barron Drive.
Personnel from Clarkesville Fire Department, Clarkesville Police Department, Habersham County Fire Department and the Habersham County Sheriff's Office responded.
While Rocky Branch Road was shut down, no homes had to be evacuated, Barrett said.
"There are no homes that are relatively close to the business, so we didn't have to actually do that," Barrett said.
Employees were able to return to work just after 10 a.m.
The investigation into Thursday's incident continues, Barrett said.
