By B.J. Williams
CLEVELAND - The Cleveland man who was the subject of a Mattie's Call Tuesday has been found dead in Union County, according to authorities with the White County Sheriff's Department.

Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said a vehicle belonging to Allen Richard "Dick" Arnold was found in a remote area about four to five miles off Richard Russell Highway. Ingram said it appeared the car had run out of gas.

"As a reuslt of the discovery of the vehicle, a search took place [and] his body was discovered - he was deceased - some half mile from the vehicle," said Ingram.

Ingram said Union County authorities are handling the death investigation, although it does not appear there was any foul play involved.

"We know there was some dementia," said Ingram. "At this time...we think he may have gotten lost and unfortunately, succumbed to the elements."

Ingram said Arnold was last accounted for Monday around 3:00 p.m. when he was seen at the Best Buy store on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville. A Mattie's Call was issued when Arnold failed to return to his home Monday night.
