OAKWOOD -- The West Hall boys basketball team is tuning up nicely for the Lanierland Tournament and showing Region 7-AAA it will be a factor this season.
The Spartans won their second straight game Friday night knocking off Fannin County 48-30 in region action at the West Hall gym.
West Hall (5-3, 2-0 in region) used its defense to beat the Rebels (3-6, 0-2) holding them to just 17 points through the first three quarters while building an 18-point lead.
The Spartans led just 10-6 after the first quarter but extended the lead to 23-12 by halftime and then 35-18 heading into the fourth quarter.
Tyswon Cantrell paced West Hall with had 16 points. Hunter Atkinson added 10 points for the Spartans.
Jonathan Vecchio led Fannin County with eight points.
West Hall will open the Lanierland Tournament against Flowery Branch at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gainesville gym
