Police release names in fatal crash

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
SUWANEE - Suwanee Police Thursday released the names of two people killed in a head-on traffic accident on McGinnis Ferry Road Wednesday night.

It happened at the Scales Road intersection around 6:00 p.m.

Suwanee Police Captain Clyde Byers said 47 year old David Dowdy of Bogart was driving a vehicle that allegedly crossed the center line of McGinnis Ferry and hit another vehicle.

A passenger in that second vehicle, 79 year old Jean Strickland of Suwanee, died in the crash.

The crash forced officers to close the intersection for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Byers.
