Thieves break in to White Co. school

By Dean Dyer, WRWH
CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Police Department is investigating a break-in at the White County Ninth Grade Academy.

White County School Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson said the break-in was discovered when cafeteria staff arrived around 5:00 a.m. Friday to begin preparing breakfast for the students.

Wilson said when students arrived at the school, they were taken to White County Middle School next door for breakfast and to await the start of classes. During that time, officers continued their investigation. Students were allowed in the building for classes shortly after 8:00 a.m.

Wilson said they are still trying to determine what was taken.

Cleveland Police Chief John Foster said it looked as if entry into the school was made through a window.

"There were three rooms that were entered at the school. It appears those three rooms were targeted, that those were three rooms that, you know, money was kept at."

Foster said investigators have video of the incident and they are evaluating that.
