GAINESVILLE - Safe Kids Gainesville-Hall County is sponsoring a free car seat check and booster seat distribution from 1:00-4:00 Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Gainesville Police Department.
The new Georgia Child Restraint Law - which was effective July 1, 2011 - requires children to be properly restrained in a child restraint (car seat, booster seat) appropriate for their height and weight in the backseat until they are 8 years old or 4 feet-9 inches tall.
Booster seats will be distributed to children 5-8 years old. Children must be present so they can be weighed and measured for the most appropriate booster seat. The seats will be handedd out on a first come-first served basis.
A parent or caregiver will be required to participate in a short booster seat education program. Visit http://mapq.st/QU9UOW for directions to the Gainesville Police Department.
