Co-founder of Little-Davenport Funeral Home dies

GAINESVILLE - One of the co-founders of Little-Davenport Funeral Home died Thursday.

Alton M. "Pete" Davenport, 89, died at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living.

Davenport and the late Paul Little founded Little-Davenport in 1954.

In 2007, Davenport, who was then 84, was honored by friends, relatives and colleagues at the funeral home he and Little started.

Davenport recalled at the time that in 1954 there were only three funeral homes in Gainesville.

The funeral will be at 4:00 Sunday at Chicopee Baptist Church.
