Wolves trounce West Hall in 7-AAA

BUFORD -- Buford kept its shutout streak going Friday night with a 61-0 thumping of West Hall in Region 7-AAA action.

The Wolves (4-1, 2-0 in region) exploded for 35 third quarter points to pull away from the Spartans (2-4, 1-2) and hand head coach Jess Simpson his 100th career victory on what was emotional night after the recent death of former Buford player Devin Durden.

Buford achieved the explosion despite running just four offensive plays in the quarter, but scoring on three of them. Dontravius Wilson scored on an 84-yard run, Corey Rogers caught a 7-yard TD pass from Mongomery Van Goder, and Zavior Hoxie scored on an 8-yard run.

The other two touchdowns came on interception returns for touchdowns. Tre Neal went 52 yards on one return and Ryan Coleman took one 63 yards for a score for the Wolves.

Wilson finished with 201 yards and three TDs on just 10 carries, getting scoring runs of 32 and 28 yards as well.

Buford held West Hall to just 125 total yards while piling up 487 yards,, 328 on the ground.

The Wolves will play travel to take on White County next week.
