Boys basketball; Elephants hold off rival Johnson

GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville boys opened the game strong and then held on for a 69-58 win over rival Johnson Friday night in Region 8B-AAA.

Lance White had one of his best games since joinging the Elephants with 13 points to pace Gainesville. Shaquan Cantrell added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Deshaun Watson contributed with 11 points and three steals for the Red Elephants. Caleb Hayman had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Chase England pulled down 11 reboundss for Gainesville. (14-8; 8-2).


Matt Hollis paced Johnson with 18 points. Montrell McKenzie added 15 points and for the Knights.
